Punjab Mock Drill: A blackout mock drill is scheduled to be held in Punjab on Friday night, April 24, to assess emergency preparedness and strengthen the civil defence system. The exercise will take place in designated areas across the state. Similar mock drills are also set to be conducted in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday evening.
As part of the drill, sirens will be sounded to simulate an air raid warning, in line with directives issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
Punjab mock drill timings
The exercise is expected to take place between 8:00 pm and 8:15 pm in parts of Punjab. Residents have been advised to switch off non-essential lights during the drill period, while essential services will continue to function without disruption.
The mock exercise will begin with an air raid warning signal, broadcast through sirens with a high-low pitch for two minutes. It will conclude with an “All Clear” signal, marked by a continuous high-pitch siren lasting two minutes.
