Navdunia Correspondent, Bhopal: Amid a sluggish monsoon in Madhya Pradesh, the weather took a sudden turn on Friday as strong winds gusting between 40 and 60 kilometres per hour swept through several districts, accompanied by scattered rain.

However, the harsh sun and humidity brought immense discomfort to several other regions. The maximum temperature witnessed a sharp jump of 5 degrees Celsius, with Khajuraho in Chhatarpur emerging as the hottest location in the state at 42.4 degrees. Meanwhile, in Chhindwara, the mercury rose 5.3 degrees above normal to reach 38.2 degrees.

When Will Monsoon Reach Madhya Pradesh?

According to weather expert Ajay Shukla, residents of Madhya Pradesh will have to wait a bit longer for heavy rainfall. The monsoon is expected to reach Chhattisgarh by June 23, before advancing into Madhya Pradesh three to four days later, around June 26 or 27. Until the system arrives to bring relief, the state is expected to experience a mix of heat and humidity.

IMD Issues Orange And Yellow Alerts For THESE Districts

Even though the monsoon is still days away, an active pre-monsoon system is expected to bring a temporary break from the intense heat.

- The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Sehore and Agar districts, warning residents of strong thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds of 50 to 60 kilometres per hour.

- Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued for approximately 36 districts, including Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, and Jabalpur, where scattered rain accompanied by gusty winds of 40 to 50 kilometres per hour is expected.

Heavy Rain, Thunderstorm Alert For 11 States

The weather office has issued an alert for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, hailstorms, and gusty winds across 11 states, including Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. The IMD has warned that strong winds of 40 to 50 km/h are expected to prevail along with the storms.
