A large explosion occurred on Tuesday evening at a fireworks factory located in Jodhan village, Ludhiana. An 18-year-old factory worker, identified as Mohammad, was killed and several others sustained injuries due to the incident. 

Officials cite that there were 15 other workers in the facility at the time of the explosion. Mohammad’s father reported that, he and his son were both working at the factory when a sudden gust of wind cut the power supply and created an unsafe area to work. As per the initial reports, no indication have been found related to the explosion being caused by a short circuit.

The roof collapsed on Mohammad, and he died as a result; his sister suffered injuries at the same time. Their father indicated that they had never worked in Ludhiana before the time of the explosion because the company did not use the factory owner for the incident related to the explosion.

As per the reports, two or three families were said to reside in the factory enclosure. Four people were hurt and transported to Civil Hospital, Ludhiana, for treatment.

The fire brigade units and ambulances were dispatched to respond to the explosion and building collapse incident as reported from a distress call received at 8:20 pm from a government school in Jodha Village.

"We arrived with our team, and a fire brigade unit from Mullanpur also reached the spot. When we arrived, the villagers were already actively engaged in rescue operations," NDTV quoted Fire Officer Rajinder.
