- Lohagarh Fort sees tourist surge due to Ketan Agarwal murder.
- 'Siya Point' is where Ketan was pushed off the fort.
- 'Dark tourism' phenomenon attracts visitors to crime scene.
State Bureau, Mumbai | These days, the historic Lohagarh Fort in Maharashtra's famous Lonavala is witnessing a massive influx of tourists. Surprisingly, they are not visiting to see the natural beauty, but to witness the horrifying point of the recent sensational Ketan Agarwal murder case, from where the Pune-based young businessman was pushed down. People on the internet have now informally referred to this place as 'Siya Point'.
According to local sources, the 'dark tourism' has led to a sudden 25 per cent increase in tourist footfall at the fort. Ketan Agarwal (26), son of a well-known Pune real estate businessman, was to marry Siya Goyal (20) in November.
What Is The 'Dark Tourism'?
The term "dark tourism" is often informally used for locations historically associated with death, disaster, suffering, or tragedy. Also known as grief tourism, it encompasses sites like battlefields, concentration camps, and natural disaster zones.
Why Is Ketan Agarwal Murder Case In News?
The case is in the news due to its peculiar nature. The accused fiancée attempted to give a colour of accidental death after killing Ketan, along with alleged lover Chetal Choudhary (22), at the Fort. Ketan was to marry Siya in the coming November. Ketan's family had even booked a luxurious palace in Udaipur for the grand wedding. It is being said that Siya, who was studying BBA, was unhappy with the marriage. She wanted to live with her lover, Chetan. To eliminate Ketan, they hatched a horrific plot and killed him by pushing him off a hill at Lohagad Fort on June 18.

Police investigations have revealed that the entire murder plan was prepared in a cafe in Pune's Kondhwa area on June 17, just one day before the murder. As part of the plan, Ketan was taken trekking to Lohagad Fort on June 18 under the pretext of celebrating Siya's birthday.
How Was The Murder Plot Hatched?
Despite the extreme heat (33 degrees Celsius), Chetan, secretly followed her to the fort, wearing a hoodie and leaving his mobile phone behind, to avoid police attention and GPS tracking. As they approached the fort's secluded and dangerous Vinchu Kata Ridge, Siya, as planned, pretended to sit on the ground under the pretext of "tying her shoelaces."
This signalled that Ketan's back was facing the ravine, and Siya was at a safe distance. Sensing the signal, Chetan came from behind and brutally pushed Ketan into the 400-foot-deep ravine, killing him instantly.
Siya's Drama After The Murder
Immediately after the incident, Siya pretended to cry, claiming it was a slip while taking a selfie, and even wrote emotional posts on the internet. But a meticulous investigation by the Lonavala Rural Police and Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill, CCTV footage, and call records (which revealed over 2,000 calls between the two accused) shattered their false narrative.
The area has been in the news since the police recently conducted a crime scene recreation with the accused. People on the internet media are seen eager to make reels and see this 'death spot'.
