- Fiancee Siya Goyal allegedly attempted to kill Ketan earlier.
- Ketan's father suspected Siya due to her cold behaviour.
- Siya and Chetan have been arrested for Ketan's Lohagad Fort murder.
A new twist has emerged in the death of Ketan Vishal Agarwal, who was allegedly pushed to his death from Lohagad Fort by his fiancée Siya Goyal and her male friend. Four days earlier, his fiancee Siya Goyal made an attempt on his life at the same location, according to Ketan’s father, as reported by NDTV.
Vishal Agarwal, father of the 26-year-old real estate director, described how Siya allegedly pushed Ketan from the fort on June 14. According to him, Ketan survived by grabbing a bush, after which Siya allegedly shouted that a snake was approaching and then hugged him.
On June 14, they both went to the fort alone, and Siya allegedly pushed Ketan. After the push, Ketan managed to grab a bush and survived. Fearing the incident would be exposed, Siya reportedly shouted, “Snake, snake,” according to Vishal Agarwal.
“When they arrived at the airport, everyone's passports were there, but Ketan's passport was missing. It seemed as if it had fallen somewhere. They tried to search for it, but the passport was nowhere to be found. Therefore, they returned. After returning, on the third or fourth day, she quarrelled with him again, arguing that they had to go to Lohagad Fort.”
No Sign Of Grief On Siya's Face
Ketan’s father, Vishal Agarwal, also claimed that when the police brought Ketan’s body, Siya showed no visible grief or distress. He said her cold demeanour raised suspicions within the family.
Expressing his anger, Ketan’s father said, “If she didn't want to get married, she would have simply refused. We would have stopped the wedding immediately. What kind of cruel mentality is this? To kill someone's 26-year-old son like this? Society should consider where such upbringing and ideology come from.”
Had Known Siya's Family For 35 Years
Ketan’s grandfather stated, “We've known the girl's family for 35 years. Sia's uncle and aunt knew everything about her and Chetan's affair, yet they pressured us into this relationship. Why did they do this to us?”
What Happened?
Ketan Agarwal, a resident of Gahunje in Pune district and director of a family-run real estate business, died on June 18 after falling nearly 400 feet into a gorge near Lohagad Fort. The fort, associated with Maratha history under Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, is among Maharashtra’s UNESCO World Heritage-listed forts.
Initially, the tragic death was treated as an accident. Siya told Lonavala rural police that Ketan had slipped and fallen while the couple was on an outing at the hill fort amid strong winds, and an accidental death report was registered. However, police later reviewed the circumstances and found inconsistencies.
Police allege that the two conspired to kill Ketan. Siya allegedly took him to Lohagad Fort under the pretext of an outing, while Chetan was called to the location later. They then allegedly pushed him off the fort, according to investigators. Local crime branch officers initially detained Chetan based on suspicion, and during interrogation he reportedly disclosed the alleged plan.
On Tuesday, officers arrested Siya and her alleged partner Chetan Babulal Chaudhary, 22, a resident of Kondhwa in Pune, on charges of murder and criminal conspiracy.
17 Crore Palace, A Lavish Wedding
Ketan and Siya got engaged in February this year and were planning an elaborate wedding scheduled for November at a palace in Udaipur, reportedly worth Rs 17 crore. Just a day before Siya’s birthday, she allegedly insisted that Ketan go trekking to Lohagad Fort.
Superintendent of Police Sandip Singh Gill of Pune Rural said the investigation explored multiple angles, including personal relationships and financial aspects. Police concluded that Siya was involved in a relationship with Chetan and allegedly considered Ketan an obstacle.
