Keralam Accident: In a tragic road accident, eight engineering students from Tamil Nadu got killed after their speeding car collided with a parked lorry in Keralam's Thrissur district. While providing details, the officials stated that the accident occurred around 11.40 pm on Friday, adding that the collision happened on the highway at Panambikkunnu. They further informed that all eight people in the car died on the spot due to the impact of the collision.
Students Died On The Spot
The local police arrived at the site along with the fire department officials upon being informed by the locals. The dead bodies were pulled of the vehicle in a rescue operation carried out with the help of local residents, the officials informed. Their bodies were later taken to the mortuary of Thrissur Medical College.
While the exact reason behind the accident is not known yet, the tragedy happened reportedly due to over speeding. The officials stated that the vehicle was registered in Tamil Nadu, adding that the engineering students were travelling from the Guruvayur side towards Kodungallur, reported news agency PTI.
"Eight people were killed after a car rammed into the rear of a parked goods lorry on the National Highway at Kaipamangalam in Thrissur district. The accident occurred around midnight at Panambikunnu Centre," Keralam Police said in a statement.

Earlier on Wednesday, two people were killed after a speeding Thar SUV collided with their motorcycle in the Delhi Cantt area. The victims, a man and a woman, were riding the motorcycle when the SUV hit them. Both suffered fatal injuries in the accident and died on the spot.
Following the accident, people at the spot caught the SUV driver and handed him over to the police. The vehicle was also taken into police custody. According to news agency ANI report, Delhi Cantt police are now investigating the accident. Officers are checking CCTV footage from cameras installed at the accident spot and nearby areas to understand how the collision took place.
