Before the final results of the Kerala assembly election, the exit polls had predicted that the state could see a Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) government this time.

Most of the pollsters suggested a comfortable majority for the UDF. While People Pulse predicted 75-85 seats for UDF, Axis My India and Matrize suggested up to 90 and 75 seats to the alliance, respectively.

Poll Mantra, on the other hand, predicted that the UDF tally may go as high as 92. Chanakya Strategies and P Marq also suggested UDF win with seats going up to 80 and 79, respectively.

Who could be Congress CM if UDF voted to power?

If converted into actual results, Congress could uproot LDF's M Pinarayi Vijayan government after 10 years. In such a scenario, all eyes would be set on who would be the next Kerala CM.

According to pollsters, the list of preferences for the CM post includes leaders from all parties, including the incumbent CM Vijayan.

However, UDF's victory would leave Congress frontrunners in the race, which includes party MP and general secretary KC Venugopal, and Paravur MLA VD Satheeshan.

Venugopal most impactful leader in Kerala polls

According to the Poll Mantra Exit Poll, Venugopal has emerged as the leader with the most impact on electors in the last 60 days. The survey suggests Venugopal's highest impact of 21.4 per cent. Following him is Satheeshan with a lesser impact of 16.2 per cent.

In CM preference, however, Satheeshan leads with 21.2 per cent, followed by Venugopal with 17.8 per cent.

If UDF wins the elections on May 4, Congress will have to strike a balance between the preference of voters and the impact on voters to elect the next potential chief minister.
