Kerala Next CM: The selection process of the next chief minister of Kerala, just like Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh, has gotten tricky for the Congress high command. Earlier on Friday, the party workers held rallies across the state in favour of Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan. Amid the reports suggesting the MLAs favored party general secretary KC Venugopal, the party workers argued that it was Satheesan who fought against the LDF government on the ground.
The regional leaders of Congress reminded that the top brass, throughout the campaign, maintained that the people actively working against the LDF government would be preferred for the CM post. "Let the leader who led the battle govern the state," the workers stated. Earlier in a Facebook post, Satheesan urged the leaders and workers to not put direct or indirect pressure on the alliance or high command.

"These are moments of happiness and pride for us. In such a situation, neither the leaders nor the workers should do anything that would create difficulties for the party or the alliance," he asserted. Apart from this, the senior party leaders also advised the workers to not influence the decision, adding that strict action will be taken if the instructions are not followed.
"Flex boards will not elect the leaders. There is a process. The present issue is about a generational shift. That will be solved," Former Congress state president and newly elected MLA K Muraleedharan was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.
KC Venugopal has emerged as the top choice of the legislators, as 43 out of 63 MLAs have extended their support to him, reported News18, citing party sources. While Venugopal has been preferred by the MLAs, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), a key alliance partner, has extended its support to Satheesan.
