Kerala Rain Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that at least nine districts of Kerala are likely to face heavy rain in the next two to three days. As per the weather department, along with rainfall, these regions will also witness thunderstorms and gusty winds. The rainfall will reduce the temperature by two to three degrees Celsius, providing relief from the scorching heat. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and plan their days accordingly.
While providing details, several districts, including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, and Kozhikode, are likely to witness rainfall at least till May 12. The continuous rainfall is likely to lead to waterlogging in the lower regions, leading to inconveniences to the residents.
Rain Alert Till May 12:
May 9: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, and Kozhikode
May 10: The weather department has issued a rain alert for multiple districts, including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, and Ernakulam

May 11: Rain alert has been issued for Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha. The residents of these districts are also likely to witness strong surface winds
May 12: The IMD has issued a rain alert for Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, and Kozhikode
A yellow alert indicates the possibility of heavy rainfall between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within 24 hours. The warning has been issued as part of precautionary measures to ensure public safety in rain-hit and vulnerable areas.

Apart from this, isolated heavy rainfall is also likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, and Kerala and Mahe during the next 7 days. Meanwhile, in Northwest India, isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (speed reaching 30-50 kmph) is likely over Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi.
