The Char Dham Yatra 2026 has begun in Uttarakhand, with the Kedarnath Temple opening its doors to devotees on April 22. However, as thousands of pilgrims arrived, crowd management became a challenge in areas around the shrine, with videos on social media capturing scenes of chaos.
One such video, now viral on X and posted by user @Wellutwt, shows severe congestion near entrances adorned with marigold garlands. Devotees appear tightly packed between barricades, with no clear queue system in place.

In the footage, several individuals are seen climbing over barricades in an attempt to move ahead, while others are seen arguing and pushing, adding to the disorderly situation.
The clip has sparked widespread reactions online, with many users criticising the lack of crowd control and expressing concern over safety. Some also blamed the growing social media-driven rush to religious destinations.
One user wrote, "No place is left where people can go with family."
Another commented, "Ever since this started running reels on TikTok and Insta, all this has been happening; before that, those who had done the Kedarnath pilgrimage knew well and would say that there was so much peace there."
A third added, "They made places of worship into a tourist spot. Now, anyone can walk in."

Another user questioned, "Why do you people go when you don't have any patience in you?"
One comment read, "It's useless to go there when the situation is so crowded."
The Kedarnath Temple will remain open until November 11, after which it will shut for the winter season due to extreme weather conditions.
