A parked IndiGo aircraft, scheduled to fly to Guwahati, was hit by a catering vehicle at the Kolkata airport on Tuesday evening after it lost control.
The vehicle crashed into the engine of the waiting IndiGo aircraft in the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport's parking bay number 51. Reports suggest that the aircraft sustained minor damage. According to a report by NDTV, citing sources, the vehicle rolled forward and collided with the aircraft engine.
The airline issued a statement on the collision, saying that a third-party unmanned vehicle collided with the aircraft. As the plane was not in motion at the time of the incident, a major accident was averted. No casualty was reported in the collision incident.
"A third-party unmanned vehicle on the apron moved and came in contact with a parked IndiGo aircraft", the airline stated.

The damaged aircraft was grounded after the incident and was undergoing necessary maintenance and a thorough investigation. The aircraft will be cleared for further operations only after a complete investigation.
IndiGo stated that it will coordinate with the authorities to investigate this. "We will be closely working with the authorities to investigate this," the airline said.
The airline identified the aircraft as flight 6E 6663. "The aircraft was scheduled to operate flight 6E 6663 from Kolkata to Guwahati," it states.

As the plane was grounded after the collision, another plane was arranged to fly the passengers from Kolkata to Guwahati. "An alternate aircraft has been arranged to operate the flight," Indigo added.
