As the Strait of Hormuz continues to be a flashpoint due to Iran's decision to close it for vessels, the crude oil and gas crisis for the world, including India, has intensified. India is currently engaged in diplomatic channels to get relief for the Indian ships. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, has said that New Delhi is in talks with Tehran and other countries.
He said that many ships are still in the Strait of Hormuz, and India intends to work with Iran and other countries to bring them back safely.
He said, "We are in talks with Iran and other countries. As our Special Secretary mentioned, many ships are still there in the Strait of Hormuz area. It is our intention to work with Iran and other countries to bring those ships back home safely. This is our objective. Discussions are ongoing on this issue".
Speaking about the stranded civilians in the Middle East, Jaiswal said that talks are currently underway to provide humanitarian assistance to affected civilians.
Jaiswal's statement came as two LPG tankers, Shivalik and Nanda Devi, safely transited the strait and reached Indian ports.
Nanda Devi, with over 47,000 metric tonnes of LPG, reached Gujarat's Vadinar port on Tuesday, while Shi8valik with over 46,000 metric tonnes of LPG reached India on Monday.

The shipments would help ease the LPG shortage in the country, as the officials have said that the shipment was equivalent to 32.4 lakh domestic cylinders. The huge shipment is enough to fulfil only a day's demand, the officials added.
