Meghalaya Honeymoon Murder Case: The Shillong Sessions Court rejected the bail application of Raj Kushwaha, the accused in Indore's much-talked-about Raja Raghuvanshi murder case. This decision put an end to speculation that Raj might also receive relief after co-accused Sonam Raghuvanshi was granted bail. Raj is the alleged lover of Sonam.

Sonam Raghuvanshi, the main accused in the high-profile Meghalaya honeymoon murder case, has been abandoned by her family, her elder brother said after a court in the north-eastern state granted her bail a couple of days ago.

A bail plea was filed on behalf of Raj through his lawyer on Wednesday evening. After the hearing, the court reserved its decision, which has now been dismissed.

Raj Hopes For Bail After Sonam's Release

Sonam, the alleged mastermind in the case, was recently granted bail. She was released from jail on Tuesday night and is currently staying with her father, Devi Singh, in a hotel in Shillong. Her father had secured her release by posting a bond of Rs 50,000. Sonam's bail had given hopes for relief for the other accused, but the court refused to grant bail to other accused.

Why Has The Court Rejected The Bail Plea?

The defence argued that prolonged detention as an undertrial violates the accused's rights and should be granted bail on this basis, but the court refused to grant relief to Raj, considering the gravity of the case and the available facts. With the court decision, the path to bail appears to be difficult for the other accused in the case as well, while all eyes are on the upcoming hearing.

Family Says Raj Is Innocent

Meanwhile, Raj's family said he is "innocent", claiming that he can't do anything wrong as he was the only earning member in the family. The family also denied his relationship with Raja Raghuvanshi's wife, Sonam. Raj's younger sister Suhani, said that he was talking to Sonam Raghuvanshi as he was an employee at her family business in Indore. She added that Sonam's family trusted Raj because of his honesty and loyalty toward them.

"Allegations are being made against my brother, but he has done nothing wrong. I just want to say that he should be proven innocent. He should not be punished for something he hasn't done," Suhani said.

What Is The Case?

Sonam Raghuvanshi, the main accused in the high-profile Meghalaya honeymoon murder case, is out on bail now. Transport businessman Raja Raghuvanshi went missing on May 23 last year during the couple's honeymoon, and his mutilated body was found on June 2 from a deep gorge near a waterfall in the Sohra area of East Khasi Hills district in Meghalaya. His wife, Sonam and several others, including her alleged boyfriend, were arrested in the case.
