Jagran Correspondent, UP, Bihar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that the weather condition in several states is likely to change significantly in the coming days. The weather department has issued an alert for thunderstorms, hailstorms, and torrential rain in 16 states, including Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. The rainfall is expected to reduce the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius, providing relief from the scorching heat. The IMD has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and plan their days accordingly.
As per the weather department, heavy rainfall is likely in at least 16 states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, and Jharkhand. Earlier on Thursday, heavy rain and lightning in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh claimed the lives of 16 people. As per the reports, 10 people lost their lives in Bihar, and another 10, including four from a family, got severely injured.
The residents of these states are likely to witness similar weather conditions for the next few days. While the rainfall has provided relief from the heat, it has also led to waterlogging in the lower regions, which has inconvenienced commuters.
Earlier on Thursday, several parts of Delhi received rainfall, along with thunderstorms and gusty winds, providing much-needed relief from heat. The weather department has advised the residents to stay updated and limit their outings during the rainfall.
The IMD has issued a warning for light rain accompanied by thunderstorms for more than 40 districts, including Lucknow, on Friday and Saturday. Apart from the above, strong surface wind is likely in several districts, including Banda, Chitrakoot, Fatehpur, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, and Siddharth Nagar.
The weather in Bihar is likely to significantly change in the next 24 hours. As per the weather department, at least 30 districts will witness light to heavy rainfall due to the formation of a cyclonic circulation in northwest Bihar and nearby regions.
