Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that several northern states are set to witness a heatwave for the next few days. As per the weather department, the temperature in these states is expected to rise by two to four degrees Celsius. While the rainfall provided relief from the scorching heat in the past few days, the residents are set to witness extreme heat in the next few weeks. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings.
Heatwave Alert In Delhi
Earlier on Sunday, the maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 41.9 degrees Celsius, 1.5 degrees above normal. The IMD stated that the minimum temperature was recorded at 25.9 degrees Celsius, 0.6 degrees below normal. Apart from this, the humidity level in the national capital remained between 23 and 65 per cent. While the maximum temperature was recorded in Ayanagar at 43 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature was recorded in Najafgarh at 27.3 degrees Celsius.

The weather department stated that the temperature in several districts of Uttar Pradesh is likely to rise by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius in the upcoming days. The residents are expected to witness a strong heatwave between May 19 and 22. However, the IMD also stated that the entire state will witness heavy rainfall from the second to third week of June, providing relief to the residents.
The similar weather condition is expected to persist in several other states, including Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam, and West Bengal. However, some parts of the southern states are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall in the upcoming days.
IMD Issues Rain Alert For Kerala
As per the IMD, several districts of Kerala are set to receive rainfall in the next few days, providing relief from the heat. The weather department has issued a rain warning for Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Pathanamthitta districts. It stated that there is a possibility of heavy rain with thunderstorms and strong winds with a speed of up to 50 kmph.
