Gurugram Horror: In a tragic incident, a 35-year-old man allegedly jumped to death along with his 2-year-old daughter from the 23rd floor of a building at a Gurugram society. The man, identified as Rahul Vijayran, was a private school operator. As per the police, the case is suspicious as Rahul lived in Tower 9 however jumped from another tower.
The incident took place at Gurugram’s Sector 102 housing society at around 7:30 am on Monday.
Family Claims
As per Rahul’s family, he was in distress after losing sight in one eye as a side effect of contracting coronavirus during the COVID-19 pandemic.
What Exactly Happened
The incident happened when Rahul’s wife Neetu Dahiya was cooking at home. While was busy, Rahul took their toddler daughter Vamika to play outside. As per the police, it was during this time that he went up to the 23rd floor of Tower 5 and allegedly jumped with Vamika.
On being alerted, Neetu went out and saw a man and a girl lying in a pool of blood on the ground. Both were declared dead by doctors on arrival at a private hospital nearby.
The couple got married in 2014 and had another 11-year-old daughter who studies in Dehradun. "My brother's eyes were damaged when he contracted coronavirus, causing him to lose vision in one eye and have limited vision in the other. He was deeply distressed because of this, pushing him to eventually take this step", Rahul’s brother Amit told, as quoted by PTI.

Sub Inspector Jagmal Singh said that the family has refused to take any action. "The cause behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained, and no suicide note was found. We are investigating why he jumped from another tower. Further probe is underway", the officer said.
