Jagran Correspondent, Gurugram: In a major update for the residents of Gurugram, the authorities have begun the efforts to elevate the major roads to reduce traffic congestion in the city. As per the reports, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) will prepare a feasibility report within the next two months. The officials stated that the feasibility report is necessary because many roads are narrow. The elevation of roads is likely to provide convenience by cutting the travel time and reducing the traffic congestion.
The traffic congestion on the key roads has rapidly increased in the past few years due to a sudden surge in the vehicles. The congestion has severely increased on some roads, including Old Railway Road, Sheetla Mata Road, and Old Delhi Road. Along with troubling the commuters on these routes, it also has an impact on the vehicular movement on the other roads.

As per the reports, during peak hours, the commuters usually take over half an hour to travel a distance of one to two kilometers. Earlier in December 2025, MLA and Haryana Olympic Association Vice President Mukesh Sharma requested Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to elevate the main roads of the city.
The reports suggest that the residents have demanded to elevate the road from Rajiv Chowk to Chintpurni Temple via Old Railway Road and from Chintpurni Temple to Lieutenant Atul Kataria Chowk via Sheetla Mata Road.
"Action will soon begin on the demand for elevated roads. A feasibility report will be prepared first. Efforts will be made to complete this work within the next two months. Once the report is complete, further work will begin rapidly," Praveen Chaudhary, Chief Engineer, GMDA, said.

"State Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini wants to root out the problems of Cyber City. The city's biggest problem is traffic jams. The metro expansion and the elevation of some roads will alleviate this problem. This will further accelerate the pace of development," Mukesh Sharma, MLA, was quoted as saying by Jagran.
