Jagran Correspondent, Ahmedabad: The Gujarat High Court has directed cricketer-turned-politician Yusuf Pathan to vacate a government plot under the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) within one month. The court also cautioned that non-compliance would attract a daily monetary penalty. In simple words, the court warned that failure to comply with the deadline means he will have to pay a daily fine.
What is the land dispute?
The case involves around 1,000 square yards of municipal land located in the Tandalja area of Vadodara, adjacent to Pathan’s bungalow. According to the records, Pathan was allotted or allowed to occupy the vacant plot in 2014 with the approval of the VMC.
However, the state government later reviewed the decision, overturned the civic body’s approval, and ordered his eviction from the land. Pathan challenged this directive in the Gujarat High Court, leading to prolonged legal proceedings.
After earlier hearings before a single-judge bench, a division bench has now upheld the direction requiring him to vacate the land. The court has given him four weeks to hand over possession, warning that failure to do so would result in a daily fine.

The dispute has drawn additional attention given Pathan’s recent political shift. He reportedly left the Trinamool Congress (TMC), an opposition party to the BJP, and joined the Nationalist Citizens Party, which has announced support for the NDA.
