Jagran Correspondent | Ghaziabad: In the latest developments in the Surya Chauhan murder case on Eid, the police have sealed at least three illegally operated madrasas. The police are attempting to trace the accused in the case.
The police also disconnected the electricity supply in these madrasas. Earlier, the investigating officers at the Sahibabad police station had interrogated nearly 600 history-sheeters in the area in connection with the killing. On Monday, the Revenue Department team and the dog squad were also involved in the campaign along with the police.
The police also inspected houses in the area using metal detectors. A physical survey was being carried out with the help of drones. District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar Mandar and Additional Commissioner of Police led the operation. On the occasion of Bakrid, a 17-year-old boy, identified as Surya Chauhan, was stabbed. Chauhan died while undergoing treatment in the hospital.
Three of the accused were arrested after the incident, while the key accused remained on the run. However, he was caught soon and sustained injuries during an encounter. Deputy Commissioner of Police Dhawal Jaiswal claimed Asad succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
What Did Investigation Reveal?
The police said that the accused and the victim knew each other. The two had a dispute over riding the motorcycle, which later escalated into a violent fight.
Surya's family has a different narrative; they claim that Surya got a phone call and was called to a location where multiple assailants armed with knives attacked him.
Notice To Vacate Asad's House
The police declared the main accused's house illegal. The accused's house is located on a 50-yard lot and has two floors. According to the notice, Asad's family has to vacate the house before June 15th.
How Did Politicians React?
The case has triggered major reactions throughout the state. In the encounter, Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Abu Azmi said, "If a person is a criminal, he should be punished. If he is a big criminal, then he should be hanged. But for this, there is a constitution that says catch the criminal, make him confess to the crime, and and then take him to court and send him to jail. But in UP, encounters are being carried out on the basis of religion."
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that stabbing in the name of friendship will not be tolerated. Maulanas and Maulvis should explain to their goons; otherwise, such a disaster will occur that generations will remember it.
