Ganga Expressway Update: Days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 594-km Ganga Expressway in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, the project's development plan has been updated to include the construction of rest areas every 75 km along the route. The first dedicated facility will be built near Pushpavati-Pooth in the Shankartila area of Hapur.
While these rest areas were not part of the initial proposal, they have been integrated into the revised plan to improve traveller convenience and safety.

Land Acquisition Underway
According to a report by Jagran.com, the rest area will span a total of five hectares. Land acquisition is currently underway, with three hectares of land successfully acquired. Once completed, long-distance drivers and travellers will find many modern amenities in one location.
What Amenities Will Be Available?
The upcoming rest area will be designed to become a hi-tech transit hub, featuring a food court, petrol pump, EV charging station, and modern restrooms.
A key highlight of the facility will be an on-site hotel with tailored arrangements for both passengers and cargo drivers. The rest area will provide hourly stays, allowing long-distance drivers to have access to a safe, comfortable environment to recharge before continuing their journey.

Local Products From Meerut, Amroha, Aligarh To Get Platform
The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) aims to transform the rest area into more than just a transit stop. It is set to become a centre for the display and sale of local products.
Under the 'One District, One Product' initiative, dedicated stalls will be set up featuring items such as Hapur's mudhas, Meerut's sports goods, Amroha's dhoklas and Aligarh's famous socks.
This aims to offer travellers an opportunity to experience the state's cultural identity while providing local artisans and industries with direct access to a high-traffic market.
Play Court For Children
To make the rest area family-friendly, a dedicated children's play court will be developed. This will provide children with a space for entertainment and physical activity during long trips, making this stop a refreshing break for families.
