Ganga Expressway Update: The Ganga Expressway was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, April 29, in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh. Developed at a cost of approximately Rs 36,230 crore, the 594-km-long expressway connects Bijauli in Meerut to Judapur Dandu in Prayagraj.

Once operational, the corridor is expected to reduce travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj from the current 12 hours to roughly six or seven hours.

Ganga Expressway Opens Today: Route And Connectivity

- The expressway passes through 12 key districts, including Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Raebareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj.

- Direct connectivity between western and eastern Uttar Pradesh will allow seamless travel across major towns and villages.

- The expressway will integrate these locations with the existing national and state highway systems, significantly improving regional connectivity.

Ganga Expressway Route Map: Interchanges, Toll Plazas

- The expressway features a detailed network of 21 interchanges to manage traffic flow and provide accessible entry and exit points.

- The structure includes 21 interchanges, two main toll plazas, two additional main toll plazas and 19 ramp toll plazas.

- These access points are located across districts such as Meerut, Hapur, Sambhal, Badaun, Hardoi, Unnao, Raebareli, Pratapgarh, and Prayagraj to make entry and exit easy for commuters and transport vehicles.

Toll Rates (Estimated):

Toll rates on the 594-km-long Expressway will be based on distance.

- Cars may be charged around Rs 2.55 per km, or roughly Rs 1,515 for the full stretch

- Small commercial vehicles may need to pay around Rs 2,405

- Buses and trucks could face toll charges up to Rs 4,840

UPEIDA To Build 11 New Expressways

At the government's direction, UPEIDA has also begun work on 11 new expressway and link expressway projects. Land acquisition for these is underway. UPDA has also set a target to complete land acquisition by this year. After the completion of these 11 expressway projects by 2029, the total length of expressways in the state will increase from 1,910 kilometres to 3,200 kilometres.
