- Court granted CBI eight weeks to obtain fodder scam documents.
- CBI argues Lalu Yadav's bail calculation was incorrect.
Jagran State Bureau, Ranchi | Jharkhand High Court on Friday heard a matter linked to the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president and the former Bihar chief minister, Lalu Prasad Yadav. Justice SK Dwivedi granted the CBI eight weeks to obtain the documents. The Central probe agency had approached the High Court seeking cancellation of Yadav's bail, who was convicted in the fodder scam cases.
During the hearing, the CBI requested time, stating that it did not have all the documents related to the case. The court then directed the CBI to obtain all documents from the registry within eight weeks. The next hearing will take place after that.

Yadav's lawyer, Devarshi Mandal, said that all the cases related to the fodder scam were listed before the court for hearing. However, the CBI requested time, citing a lack of documents. The CBI had filed a petition in the Supreme Court to increase Lalu's sentence and cancel his bail, he added.
What Is The Matter?
During the hearing, the CBI argued that the High Court had granted Yadav bail based on half his sentence, which was incorrect. The sentence period had been incorrectly calculated, and therefore, his bail should be revoked, the probe agency said.
The Supreme Court had refused to interfere with the High Court's order granting bail to Yadav on July 14. The CBI also said Yadav's appeal has been pending in the High Court for seven years. Following this, the Apex Court requested the High Court to complete all appeals related to the fodder scam within six months, if possible. Subsequently, the High Court agreed to hear the case.
Cases Against Lalu Prasad Yadav
There are five fodder scam cases related to Yadav, out of which two cases are related to Chaibasa treasury and one case each is related to Dumka, Deoghar and Doranda treasury. It should be noted that a special CBI court convicted the ex-Bihar chief minister in the Deoghar treasury illegal withdrawal case and sentenced him to three and a half years in prison. The CBI filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking an increase in his sentence.
