EPFO 3.0 Update: If you are an EPFO member or have joined, this news is for you. Everything from pensions to claims and account transfers is now faster and easier than ever before. In the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Labor and Employment Shobha Karandlaje gave information about the major reforms made under EPFO 3.0.
What Is The Biggest Update On EPFO?
The biggest update concerns the Centralised Pension Payment System (CPPS) of the EPFO. According to EPFO Minister Shobha Karandlaje, all EPFO field offices across the country have adopted this system as of January 1, 2025. Through this new system, more than 7 million pensioners are receiving their pensions on time and without errors every month.
What Changes Have Been Made Regarding Claim Settlement?
Shobha Karandlaje also explained the significant changes in claim settlement. In the current financial year, more than 35.2 million claims up to Rs 5 lakh have been settled automatically till February 25, 2026. She said that now, 71.37 per cent of the total advance claims are being settled automatically, in which about Rs 51,620 crore has been paid.
EPF Account Transfers Made Easy
EPF account transfers have also been significantly simplified. According to the minister, as of February 25, 2026, more than 7 million transfer claims have been auto-triggered without any intervention from either the employee or the employer. Additionally, more than 2.1 million employees have submitted their own transfer claims without any employer assistance.
She clarified that after completion of KYC, the need for approval from the old or new employer has also been eliminated, due to which there will be no delay in fund transfer on changing jobs.
What Is EPFO 3.0?
The minister also explained what EPFO 3.0 is. As per the minister, it is a digital transformation project aimed at simplifying processes, reducing paperwork, and providing all services on a single platform.
