To ensure smooth movement and minimise congestion, the Delhi Traffic police has implemented comprehensive management plan to handle the surge of devotees in capital as Navratri begins this Thursday and continues until March 27.

During Navratri, Delhi's temples witness a massive gathering of devotees, leading to heavier crowds and more traffic congestion on the roads compared to ordinary days.

Consequently, additional police forces will be deployed around major temples and procession routes to ensure smooth traffic flow and prevent public inconvenience. Extra traffic personnel will specifically be stationed near prominent religious sites, including the Kalkaji Temple, Chhatarpur Temple and Jhandewalan Temple.

Focus on Major Temples and Traffic Diversions

Heavy footfall is expected at iconic locations, including:

- Kalkaji Temple

- Chhatarpur Temple

- Jhandewalan Temple

Additional CP (Traffic) Dinesh Kumar Gupta stated that specific route management and diversions will be enforced on roads leading to these shrines. Authorities are particularly monitoring Mathura Road and Ring Road near Kalkaji Temple. During peak hours, vehicles may be rerouted to alternative paths to prevent gridlock.

Enhanced Monitoring And Checkpoints

To maintain order, the police will increase surveillance on several high-traffic corridors:

- Outer Ring Road

- Aurobindo Marg

- Mehrauli-Gurugram (MG) Road

Special pickets and checkpoints are being established. Officers at these locations will focus on directing traffic flow and taking action against those violating traffic regulations.

Managing Border Inflow And Processions

A significant number of religious processions are expected to enter Delhi from Ghaziabad and Noida. This influx will likely increase pressure on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, NH-9, and other arterial roads. The traffic department has already begun coordinating efforts to manage these entries without disrupting city transit.

Strict Regulations On Noise And Safety

The police have issued a stern warning regarding public disturbances and road safety:

Reckless Driving: Strict penalties will be imposed on negligent drivers and those playing loud music from vehicles.

Noise Pollution: In accordance with Supreme Court and CPCB guidelines, the use of loudspeakers is prohibited after 10 pm.

Compliance: Any procession found exceeding noise level limits will face immediate legal action.
