Delhi: The mother of a 31-year-old software engineer, who was allegedly beaten to death by his wife's family following a marital dispute in outer Delhi's Nihal Vihar on Friday, recalled being caught completely off guard, having welcomed the relatives into her home believing they had come for a peaceful visit.
"The door was open; they came straight upstairs. His father said that there is no issue; they are relatives, it is fine, seat them. I said, 'Son, turn on the AC, give them water'," she told news agency ANI.

The situation turned violent within moments. "I just went to give them a glass of water. They had pinned down my boy. They threw him on the bed and grabbed him by the neck. They kicked and punched him in the stomach," she said, breaking down as she recalled the incident.
When Vinay's parents attempted to intervene, they were also attacked.
"His father was thrown aside. I went to save him, and I was also thrown aside. Then I called out to neighbours here. By the time they arrived, they had finished my boy. He died on the way to the hospital. I only had one child," she added.
Called Relatives To Execute Planned Attack
According to the victim's family, the assault began as a minor argument between Vinay and his wife, Rekha Gupta. The family alleged that Rekha called her relatives, including her two brothers, father, mother, sister-in-law, and uncle, to the house and intentionally switched off the home's CCTV cameras before their arrival.
Demanding strict punishment, the grieving mother accused her daughter-in-law of masterminding the assault.
"Give her to us, and we will punish her with our own hands. She orchestrated his murder and left. They grabbed him by his hands, choked his throat, jumped on his chest and killed him right before my eyes within five minutes. Everything went dark before my eyes," she added.
Sister Alleges Pre-Planned Ambush
Vinay's sister, who was present at the house during the incident, also alleged a pre-planned ambush, revealing that her sister-in-law had stormed out following an argument in the morning and returned with relatives suspiciously fast.
"Within just 10 minutes, she returned with six men from her family. She led them upstairs," the sister said, questioning how the relatives could reach the home so quickly when they live roughly 30 minutes away.
"It was completely pre-planned. Everything was orchestrated in advance. They refused the water, grabbed my brother by his hair, choked his throat and killed him," she added.
She further alleged that her sister-in-law frequently fought over minor issues and threatened the family.
