Delhi SIR Draft List: Families Split Across Voting Booths, Errors In Names And Age Trigger Confusion

Jagran Correspondent | New Delhi: A total of 47 lakh voters were excluded from Delhi’s draft voter list released earlier this week, including those who voted in the last election and submitted the SIR form. As voters visit polling stations to verify their status, confusion has mounted regarding deleted names and family members being registered at different polling booths.

What Did The Residents Say?

Kuldeep, a resident of Chanakya Place Part-2, said he voted in the last election. He also filled out and submitted the SIR form, despite this, his name did not appear in the draft list. Upon contacting the BLO to add his name, the BLO was unable to help, Kuldeep said.

Few people residing at the Mahaveer Enclave, said that they were confused on finding out that names of people from one family was listed for voting on different booths of the capital. The residents claimed that the BLO could not provide a solution to their problem.

According to Shahid, a resident of the Matia Mahal Assembly constituency in Old Delhi, his wife's name was listed in the Delhi voter list until 2025, but her name is missing from the 2026 draft SIR list. Vinayak Kumar, meanwhile, claimed that he had entered his name and date of birth correctly on the SIR form, but both his name and age are incorrect in the draft list.

What did the authorities say?

The Deputy Chief Electoral Officer of the Delhi Election Office stated that voters whose names are not included in the draft list can apply by filling out Form 6. For this, they will need to submit the prescribed address and identification documents, along with the required affidavit.

To correct identification details in the Delhi Draft voting list, one needs to fill out the Form 8. If family members' names are transferred to different booths, they can apply to transfer their names to the same address by selecting the relevant option in Form 8. Voters can also apply through the voter helpline number 1950, the Election Commission's portal, or the concerned BLO.
