Jagran Correspondent, New Delhi | The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC)'s excellent urban management model is now receiving international acclaim. Senior officials from Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Palestine, Nigeria, and Niger have expressed interest in various NDMC initiatives and discussed the possibility of adopting them in their countries.
Officials From Six Countries Visit NDMC Office
On Wednesday, a delegation of 40 senior civil servants from these six countries visited the NDMC headquarters. They were briefed on the Council's various schemes, innovations, and urban management system. NDMC Secretary Rahul Singh presented on the Council's various initiatives for sustainable urban development and modern civic administration. He explained that these efforts have made New Delhi one of the cleanest, greenest, and citizen-friendly capitals in the country.

Referring to the recently launched "Anupam Colony Project", he said sustainable development is being promoted by adopting modern solid waste management systems at the local level. Singh also provided information on the Council's financial management system and various revenue sources.
Discussion On Waste Management And Pollution Control
Officials from the NDMC's Finance, Civil, Health, Horticulture, and Training departments shared information on innovations and initiatives being implemented in their respective areas. Health Officer Dr Shakuntala Srivastava explained source-level waste segregation, the RRR (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) model, the green cover expansion program, air pollution control through mist sprayers, and scientific disposal of e-waste.
Smart Governance And Digital Services Demonstration
The delegation was also briefed on the functioning of the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC). Officials explained that major changes have been made in the delivery of public services through e-governance and m-governance.
More than 49 NDMC services are available online, while the NDMC 311 mobile app has made citizen participation easy and effective. This has led to a transparent, accountable, and efficient digital administrative system.
Foreign delegates praise The NDMC Model
Delegation members interacted with NDMC officials and gained information on various topics related to civic administration. They appreciated the NDMC's urban management model and discussed the possibilities of adopting it in their respective countries' urban development plans.
