Delhi-NCR Weather: Amid the intense heat in Delhi-NCR, the weather suddenly changed on Wednesday afternoon. Strong winds and rain lashed parts of Noida and Ghaziabad while Delhi was hit by a hailstorm. Light rain was also recorded in several areas of the national capital, bringing relief from the scorching heat.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) kept Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad on an orange alert meanwhile a yellow alert has been issued for Gurugram and Faridabad.
Maximum temperature on Thursday is expected to be around 37 to 38 degrees, while the minimum temperature is expected to be around 20 degrees.
On Wednesday, Delhi's maximum temperature was recorded at 37.1 degrees Celsius, 1.9 degrees below normal. The minimum temperature was 20.4 degrees Celsius, 3.4 degrees below normal. A day earlier, on Tuesday, the maximum temperature was 39.2 degrees Celsius and the minimum was 28.4 degrees Celsius.
Chances Of Rain On May 5 As Well
According to Mahesh Palawat of Skymet Weather, the skies will be clear on Friday and Saturday, but a new western disturbance, which will become active on Sunday, could bring rain and thunderstorms again until May 5. This could keep maximum temperatures below 40 degrees for the rest of the week.
North India Weather
North India is bracing for a significant shift in weather patterns as the IMD has forecast a 'break' from the current heatwave conditions. According to the weather office, temperatures are likely to drop by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius, offering much-needed relief from the blistering heat. Residents have been advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated with the latest weather forecasts.
Rain Alert In THESE States
- According to the weather office, an active western disturbance is expected to bring light rain, lightning, and hailstorms, along with dust storms with wind speeds of 50 to 60 km/h across North and East India.
- Under the influence of the active western disturbance, several states, including Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Bihar, are likely to experience dust storms at speeds of 50-60 km/h along with light, lightning and hailstorms.
- The higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand are expected to see thunder, rain and snowfall.
