Starting April 1, 2026, the first day of the new financial year, Delhi-NCR is set to experience many changes that will affect residents, property owner, and businesses. Some of these changes will focus on water supply, the purchase of property, public transportation systems (bus) and waste management.
Water Supply
Residents of Greater Noida will be paying 10 per cent more for drinking water from today as the Greater Noida Authority continues its annual 10 per cent increase in the cost of drinking water.
An allottee with a 60-square metre plot had previously paid Rs 2,280 in the previous financial year; this amount will now increase to Rs 2,508. The increase will cover all types of property, including residential, industrial, and so on.
YEIDA Property Rates
Purchasing property within the YEIDA area has also just become more expensive. The price of property purchased through the YEIDA Board has increased by 3.58 per cent for all categories of property due to inflation.
In addition, the cost of residential property has increased by Rs 1,260 per square metre. As a result, residential property now sells within the YEIDA Board's jurisdiction at Rs 36,260 per square metre.
Cluster Bus model To Be Eliminated
The Cluster Bus model will be eliminated from the City of Delhi on April 1. The single operator of Delhi's transportation system (DTC) will take over the operations of 2,887 cluster buses currently being run under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
According to officials, using a single operator will increase the regularity of bus schedules and reduce the wait time for passengers.
In addition, garbage collection operations for MCD have undergone a major overhaul in each of the 11 wards making up the entire area of Delhi.
Garbage Collection Schedule:
- Dry Waste: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday
- Wet Waste: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
By the time that the Solid Waste Management Rules 2026 (which call for the segregation of all waste into four distinct categories - wet, dry, sanitary and special care) are implemented, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has publicly announced that it will be mandatory for all construction debris ("C&D") to be disposed of through scientific means starting on April 1.
For all of the above mentioned changes, CAQM has issued Directive 97, which is to be put into full effect beginning on April 1, 2026. Because of these changes, there will be a significant change to the daily activities of those living in the Delhi-NCR area, in addition to the increase in expenses.
