Delhi Metro Phase 4 Update: Work is progressing in full swing on three key priority corridors under Phase 4 of the Delhi Metro. These corridors will connect areas of Delhi that have remained untouched or have poor connectivity to the metro network. Completion of these projects is expected to revolutionise the national capital's transportation system.
1. The Magenta Line extension from Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Marg will be approximately 29 kilometre long. It will connect key areas of outer and northwest Delhi, such as Peeragarhi, Mangolpuri, West Enclave, Madhuban Chowk, Prashant Vihar, and Haiderpur Badli Mor, via Majlis Park and Azadpur, directly to RK Ashram Marg in Central Delhi.
2. The new Golden Line from Tughlakabad to Aerocity will be approximately 23 kilometre long. This all-new corridor will directly connect South Delhi to the Aerocity area of Indira Gandhi International Airport. Its major stations include Tughlakabad, Saket G Block, Khanpur, Chhattarpur, and Mehrauli.
3. The Pink Line extension from Majlis Park to Maujpur is a small but crucial stretch of approximately 7 kilometers. It will complete the Ring Road loop of the Pink Line. This will connect areas of North and Northeast Delhi such as Burari, Jharoda, and Wazirabad directly to the metro network.
Major Relief From Traffic Jams
The opening of these Phase 4 corridors will provide significant relief from traffic congestion in Delhi. Journeys that currently take one and a half to two hours will now be completed in just 30-40 minutes. Passengers travelling from Outer Delhi (Mongolpuri, Burari, Wazirabad) to Central and South Delhi, and those travelling to the airport from the Tughlakabad-Faridabad area, will benefit the most.
