State Bureau, Chandigarh: Delhi Metro's rail network is set to expand further into Haryana NCR, with plans to extend metro services from Bahadurgarh to Asauda in the Jhajjar district progressing rapidly under the Haryana Government's NCR connectivity initiative. The proposed extension is expected to enhance regional mobility and directly benefit more than 50,000 residents.

The Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) has completed a physical survey of the proposed corridor through a private agency and is now preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR). Officials expect the DPR to be ready within the next month, paving the way for the project's next phase.

Bahadurgarh is already connected to Delhi through the Green Line Metro. The proposed extension to Asauda will further strengthen connectivity between Haryana and the national capital while improving access for commuters across the region.

As part of the survey process, land requirements for the metro corridor and station locations have been identified. The project proposes six new metro stations at Sankhol, Udyog Nagar, HSIIDC, Jakhoda, HPCL, and Asauda.

Following the completion of the DPR, the state government will allocate the necessary funds and begin the tendering process. Construction work is expected to commence thereafter. Authorities have also identified public utility infrastructure along the proposed route, which will be relocated before construction begins.

The metro extension is likely to benefit residents of more than 15 villages in and around Bahadurgarh and Asauda. Additionally, commuters travelling from Rohtak and Sampla are expected to gain from improved public transport connectivity and reduced travel times.

The proposed corridor will also integrate with the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor and the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Motorway, creating a more seamless transportation network across the National Capital Region. This integration is expected to make travel to Delhi and other NCR destinations faster and more convenient.

The Haryana government first announced the metro extension to Asauda in its 2023–24 budget. Since then, HMRTC has conducted both ridership assessments and physical surveys to evaluate the project's feasibility. Based on the findings, the DPR is now being prepared, bringing the long-awaited metro expansion a significant step closer to reality.
