As the Cockroach Janata Party’s protest continues, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has announced that 18 metro stations will remain closed on Saturday. However, interchange facilities will remain available for passengers at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, and Central Secretariat stations, the DMRC said. "Below mentioned Metro stations will be closed from 7:30 AM tomorrow (25th July, 2026) till further instructions. However, Interchange facility shall remain available at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat," DMRC in a post on X.

Several Metro stations remained closed this week.

As the CJP protest intensified, the DMRC had closed 17 metro stations on Friday as well.  The stations included Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhambha Road, Supreme Court, Seva Teerth, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh, Shivaji Stadium, and Jhandewalan. 

The same metro stations remained closed for prolonged periods on Wednesday and Thursday following security arrangements linked to the protest, causing inconvenience to office-goers, students, and other commuters in central Delhi.

On Thursday, entry gates of three stations—Central Secretariat, Mandi House, and Rajiv Chowk—were opened late in the evening after around 14 hours of closure, while the remaining stations remained closed. Many passengers had to alter their travel plans, switch to alternate routes, or rely on road transport amid heavy traffic congestion.

Previously, five metro stations—Janpath, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, and Seva Teerth—were closed for several hours on Monday as security was tightened in view of the protest. The repeated closures have disrupted daily commuting in the capital's central districts, with traffic restrictions around Janpath, Jantar Mantar, and adjoining areas adding to delays during peak hours. 

CJP Protest

The CJP has been demanding the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities linked to the NEET UG 2026 paper leak. Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk maintained a 26-day hunger strike. The 59-year-old activist ended his hunger strike after receiving assurances from JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh that the government would take appropriate measures to address the issue.  

Following this, the Union Cabinet cleared a draft bill to ensure stricter punishments in paper leak cases. The bill was cleared following a Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Parliament House complex earlier in the day, and it will be presented in the Parliament next week. The bill will amend The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, and it proposes a jail term of up to 10 years and a maximum fine of Rs 10 crore in case of organised paper leaks.
