DFS Assistant Divisional Officer Yashwant Singh Meena said the building had a ground floor and five upper floors and was located in a narrow lane, which made rescue and firefighting operations difficult. Rescue team immediately dispatched three water tenders, two water bowsers, a breathing support unit, and a Quick Response Vehicle. An additional light fire unit was later sent after more distress calls came in, ANI reported.
The exact reason of the fire is yet to be ascertained, however, the blaze may have erupted in the vehicles parked inside the hospital premises. At around 3.45 am, the rescue officials informed that the fire was brought under control. By 4:00 am, the DFS issued a stop message, indicating that firefighting operations were complete, though rescue work continued afterward, as per the report.
During the final phase of the operation, firefighters rescued one more person from the building, bringing the total number of people rescued by DFS personnel to eight.
