Delhi-Dehradun Expressway: With the launch of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, travel to Dehradun is set to become costlier. Commuters using the Roorkee-Dehradun Economic Corridor will soon have to pass through two toll plazas, increasing the overall cost of the journey. Currently, toll is being collected at Bhagwanpur, while the Ganeshpur toll plaza is expected to become operational shortly.
With the corridor now functional between Roorkee and Dehradun, travellers will face toll charges at two points. At present, vehicles pay around Rs 55 for a one-way trip at the Bhagwanpur toll plaza. Meanwhile, the second toll plaza at Ganeshpur has already been constructed and is likely to begin operations soon.
How much will it cost?
Last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor. The expressway has been developed to ensure faster, safer, and smoother travel. However, it is also expected to increase the financial burden on commuters.
The added cost is likely to significantly impact daily travellers. Regular commuters are already paying toll at Bhagwanpur, which has sparked local discussions. Once the Ganeshpur toll plaza becomes operational, those travelling between Roorkee and Dehradun will have to pay toll charges at two locations.

According to jagran.com, although the toll rates for Ganeshpur have not yet been finalised, they are expected to be in line with standard charges. Overall, travel on this route is likely to become more expensive than before. NHAI’s PIU Roorkee Project Director Vishal Goyal said that toll is currently being collected at Bhagwanpur as per fixed rates, while the process regarding Ganeshpur is underway.
Rates and Rules to Be Finalised Soon
All rules and toll rates related to the new plaza will be finalised soon to ensure smooth operations. Locals say that while road connectivity has improved, the burden of toll charges is also rising.

Many daily commuters and working professionals rely on this route, and paying toll twice a day could become financially challenging. Residents have urged authorities to strike a balance in toll pricing and provide concessions for local vehicles.
