Jagran Correspondent, Delhi: A property dealer was brutally murdered in Delhi's Narela on Thursday allegedly over the extortion demands, leading to serious questions over the law and order. Pramod Kumar, the deceased, was a Sonipat-based property dealer and visited a gym in Narela when a group of miscreants opened fire at him. As per the reports, the notorious Himanshu Bhau and the Neeraj Faridpur gang have claimed responsibility for the incident.

Firing Outside Narela's Gym

As per the reports, Kumar arrived at the gym at around 6.45 am from his village in his bulletproof car along with his friend. However, three miscreants opened multiple fires at him soon after he exited the car, leading to severe injuries. The eyewitnesses stated that at least 16 rounds were fired within a minute, adding that the incident led to panic among the local residents.

As per the initial investigation, both the local gangs were demanding extortion money of over five crore rupees from the victim. While Kumar paid around one and half crore rupees, the accused pressured him to pay the remaining amount. Narela police have registered a case under various sections of the BNS, including murder, and have begun an investigation.

Officials Provide Details

While providing details, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Lokesh Varan stated that the police control room received information about the incident around 7:10 am. A police team immediately arrived at the scene, and Pramod, who was seriously injured, was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead, he added.

The deceased's family members and locals arrived at the site and placed the dead body on the Narela-Lambpur Road, leading to congestion for about three hours. The blockade was cleared only after police persuaded the situation and assured action. The capital city has been rocked by several similar incidents in the last few months, leading to fear among the local businessmen.
