Jagran Correspondent, New Delhi: Two Karnataka MLAs were among several injured after two cars collided at ITO in Delhi's IP Estate on Sunday night. The incident caused a long traffic jam.

Delhi's Kirari assembly constituency MLA Anil Jha and Karnataka MLA Abhay Patil suffered injuries in the accident.

All the injured were taken to LN Hospital for treatment, where their condition is reported to be stable. Police are investigating the incident. According to Central District Deputy Commissioner of Police Rohit Rajveer Singh, the IP Estate police station received information about the road accident at around 9:30 pm.

Car occupants suffer minor injuries in the collision

Upon receiving the information, a police team arrived at the scene. Initial investigation revealed that an Innova car and a Swift car collided. Ashutosh Pandey, 32, of Arya Nagar, Delhi, was driving the Swift car. He was travelling from Laxmi Nagar to ITO with his wife and two minor children.

His car first hit a divider near the PWD office and then crossed the railing and collided with an Innova car coming from ITO towards Laxmi Nagar. The two MLAs were seated in the Innova car.

The occupants of both vehicles suffered minor injuries after the collision. All were immediately rushed to LN Hospital. Police also called the fire brigade to the scene. Both vehicles were removed from the road, allowing traffic to resume.

Police start investigation

Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are trying to determine the exact cause of the accident. A long traffic jam formed at ITO following the accident.

Traffic congestion increased, and long traffic jams occurred on DDU Marg, ITO, Mandi House, Pragati Maidan, and Sarai Kale Khan until the Delhi Police, with the help of the fire department, removed the damaged vehicles. However, traffic returned to normal after the damaged vehicles were removed.
