Amid row over the use of pellet guns during Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Director General Gyanendra Pratap Singh made a striking remark asking its personnel to perform their duties "fearlessly” in the national interest, adding that he would take "responsibility" for their decisions.

Addressing the Grand Investiture Ceremony of the CRPF, Gyanendra Pratap Singh said, “I want to assure all of you that whether it is our operational battalions or our law and order units, whatever decisions you take and whatever actions you take in the national interest, public interest, and the interest of the force, provided they are in the bona fide discharge of your duty, I take full responsibility for all those decisions and actions.”

“Continue to perform your duties fearlessly. Wherever any responsibility has to be taken, I will take it in full,” Singh further remarked, as quoted by news agency IANS.

CRPF Identifies RAF Personnel Who Fired Pellet Rounds During Delhi Protests

The row erupted after a 25-year-old man said that he was shot by a pellet gun during the protest on July 20 against the NEET-UG 2026 exam paper leak. Even as the youth suffered multiple injuries on his face, hands, and upper body, he claimed that he did not regret joining the protest, adding that he “supported the cause”.

CRPF has identified the Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel who allegedly fired pellet rounds during the Parliament march.

According to CRPF, the identified RAF jawan fired a total of seven rounds from a pellet gun during the protest. Of these, five struck protesters while two hit the ground.
