Jagran Correspondent, Chandigarh: Several workers were trapped after an under-construction building collapsed in Industrial Area Phase-2 on Saturday, triggering widespread panic in the area. The incident occurred while labourers were working inside the building.
Upon receiving information about the incident, emergency response teams were rushed to the scene. Five workers have been rescued, while a search continues for the two who remain trapped under the debris.
Five Workers Pulled From Debris
The incident occurred at Plot No. 28/9 in Ram Darbar Phase 2. Upon receiving information about the incident, police, fire departments, and other relief agencies arrived at the scene. The NDRF team later took charge of the rescue operation.
So far, five workers, Kuldeep, Kulbir, Umesh, Rahul, and Ajit, have been safely pulled from the debris and sent to a nearby hospital for treatment.

NDRF Deploys Specialised Equipment, Investigation Launched
The NDRF has deployed specialised equipment to rescue the two workers trapped in the debris. As a precautionary measure, the surrounding area has been evacuated to ensure rescue operations can proceed without obstacles.
The administration has launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. A preliminary investigation is underway to determine what caused the under-construction building to collapse and to verify whether safety standards were being followed during construction. The police have also launched a separate investigation into the incident.
