Preparations for the Census 2027 have entered their final phase, with administrative machinery fully geared up for the upcoming self-enumeration process beginning from May 7 in Uttar Pradesh. Officials and staff will first complete their own self-enumeration and subsequently promote awareness among the public. The administration is placing significant emphasis on self-enumeration, as wider participation is expected to enhance transparency and streamline the overall exercise.

To facilitate the process, directives have been issued to officials and employees across 32 government departments in Prayagraj, urging them to participate in self-enumeration. A large-scale awareness campaign will be launched from May 5 across educational institutions, including schools, colleges, universities, engineering and medical institutes, as well as coaching centres, hostels and departmental offices, following instructions from the District Magistrate.

A total of around 14,500 enumerators and supervisors have been deployed across the district for the census exercise. The district has been divided into 25 charge areas, each under designated charge officers. These include eight charge areas, each under Municipal Corporations, Nagar Panchayats, and Tehsil offices. Zonal officers will oversee operations in municipal corporations, Executive Officers in Nagar Panchayats, Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) in tehsils, and the CEO in the Cantonment Board.

Five-Step Self-Enumeration Process

The self-enumeration process for Census 2027 will be conducted in five stages:

  • Access and initial registration
  • Verification and location identification
  • Data entry and final submission
  • Field verification

How To Do Self-Enumeration

Residents must log into the official portal, select their preferred language, and register their family by entering details such as the head of the household’s name, mobile number, and email ID. The selected language cannot be changed later.

After registration, the mobile number can only be used for one household. Following OTP verification, users must provide location details by marking their residence on a digital map and placing the red marker accurately. Once all family details are submitted, an OTP-based confirmation will be generated. This reference should be preserved and shown to the enumerator during their visit.

Census 2027 District Census Officer and ADM Finance Vineeta Singh said that all departments, village heads, village secretaries, accountants, and ration dealers have been engaged. Calendars for all departments are ready, with public awareness campaigns scheduled for different dates.
