State Bureau, Patna: A major cheating racket has been uncovered in the Bihar Police Sub-ordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) Havildar Instructor recruitment exam. The Bihar Economic Offences Unit (EOU) on Saturday arrested three accused, including a biometric supervisor in connection with the case.
Three Arrested
The three accused have been identified as candidate Raj Samdarshi alias Raja (25), Abhishek Kumar (21), and biometric supervisor Nitesh Kumar (28). All three have been sent to Beur Jail in Patna under judicial custody. Officials said 13 other candidates from Vaishali district are also under investigation. Their records are being verified and further action will be taken based on the findings.
How Was The Cheating Carried Out?
The investigation had begun in connection with Hajipur Nagar Police Station Case No. 368/2026. Officials had received information that unfair means were being used during the Havildar Instructor recruitment examination held on July 29. According to investigators, a candidate had received the exam answer key on his mobile phone around 40 minutes before the test ended.
During questioning, candidate Raj Samdarshi, who appeared for the exam at the Higher Secondary School examination centre in Hajipur, admitted that irregularities had taken place during the examination. He also revealed the involvement of Abhishek Kumar. Investigators later found that biometric supervisor Nitesh Kumar had allegedly helped send the answer key to Raj during the examination.
Answer Key Sent Before Exam Ended
The probe revealed that an answer sheet related to the examination was sent to the candidate's mobile phone at 12:21 pm. The exam was scheduled from 11 am to 1 pm. This indicated that the answers were shared around 40 minutes before the examination ended.
Mobile Phones Revealed More Evidence
During the investigation, officials examined the mobile phones of Raj and Abhishek. They recovered several examination-related documents, including admit cards, answer sheets and other records from the phone galleries. Raj also told investigators that unfair means had allegedly been used in the AEDO examination held in April 2026.
Case Registered
The EOU has registered a case against the three arrested accused and other named individuals under the Bihar Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024. The agency said action against the paper leak network and those who financially benefited from it will continue. It added that other aspects of the case are also being investigated.
