Jagran Correspondent, Patna: In a significant move to boost rail connectivity in Bihar, the railways have approved a 29-kilometre-long multitracking project on the Danapur-Fatuha section. The completion of a project worth Rs 976 crore will ease train movement on one of the busiest sections of the Patna rail corridor. Along with improving the connectivity, the project will increase operational efficiency and provide additional benefits to the passengers.
How Project Will Benefit?
The officials stated that the construction of these additional lines will reduce the time required for trains to cross and overtake, making operations more smooth and punctual. The authority stated that the route will be able to operate 22 additional passenger trains and 18 freight trains on a daily basis within the first year of the project.
Apart from this, the route will also enable the transportation of an additional 5.2 million tonnes of freight annually, boosting the transportation of coal, cement, minerals, and other industrial products. The officials further stated that the project will pave the way for the expansion of long-distance trains through Patna.

The officials stated that this project is a key part of the quadrupling programme of Delhi–Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Junction–Patna–Kiul–Bhagalpur–Khana–Howrah railway line. This route falls under the Energy, Mineral and Cement Corridor of Railways, which carries a large amount of industrial and energy sector-related freight.
As per the railways, the project will also boost the industrial development, energy security, trade, employment and regional economic activities in Bihar. The operational capacity on this important section of East Central Railway will increase significantly upon completion of the project.
