Bihar Politics: In a major transition in the politics of Bihar, Nitish Kumar will resign from the post of chief minister on April 14, reported Jagran.com. The JDU veteran is set to enter national politics after serving Bihar for over two decades, changing the political dynamics of the state. The new government is likely to be formed on April 15, a day after Kumar's resignation. While the ruling alliance has not announced the CM post yet, current Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary is likely to be given the key responsibility.
As per the reports, Nitish Kumar will also chair a final meeting of the State Cabinet before resigning and is also likely to make a few announcements. The socialist leader will reportedly submit his resignation after attending the state-level program on the occasion of Baba Saheb BR Ambedkar's birth anniversary. The senior leaders of NDA, including Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary, Vijay Kumar Sinha, and Lakhendra Roshan, met with Kumar on Saturday to discuss the strategies.
The new government in Bihar is likely to be formed under the guidance of Nitish Kumar, and the state is set to get its first chief minister from the BJP. However, to maintain the balance of power within the alliance, the JDU is expected to get the posts of deputy chief minister and other key portfolios. Nishant Kumar, son of Nitish Kumar, is also likely to get a key responsibility in the cabinet.

As per the media reports, Samrat Choudhary is likely to become the next chief minister of Bihar. The saffron party has shown faith in Choudhary's abilities in the past few years by giving him key posts such as state party chief, deputy chief minister, and state home minister. Apart from this, Choudhary is also considered close to Nitish Kumar, boosting his chances of handling the top state post.
