Bihar Govt To Set Up New Grievance System For General, EWS Categories; Nodal Officer To Be Deployed In Each District

Jagran State Bureau, Patna | A new system is being implemented in Bihar to resolve complaints related to the General category (upper caste community). Nodal officers will be posted in all 38 districts of the state. Their objective of the move is to ensure prompt resolution of complaints at the district level.

This will eliminate the need for people to repeatedly approach the State Upper Caste Commission in Patna. Senior district administration officials will be appointed as nodal officers.

What Will Be The Role Of The Nodal Officer

The nodal officers will monitor cases related to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), caste discrimination, harassment, and obstacles to the benefits of government schemes. They will also coordinate with the relevant police station, zone, and other departments to ensure action is taken, if necessary.

Reducing delays in matters related to EWS certificates, scholarships, and reservations will also be their primary responsibility. They will directly monitor the timely delivery of benefits to eligible youth and students. Regular reports on problems arising at the district level will be sent to the State Upper Caste Commission.

Nodal officers will also play a key role in implementing the Commission's future plans. They will also coordinate between the district administration and the Commission in implementing proposals related to hostels for poor upper caste students, free coaching, employment, and self-employment.

The process of selecting nodal officers has begun. All selected officers will receive special training on August 10 at the Planetarium Auditorium in Patna. This training will explain the process of resolving complaints and coordinating with the Commission.

According to Dr Mahachandra Prasad Singh, Chairman of the State Upper Caste Commission, the new system will significantly facilitate the benefits of schemes and the resolution of complaints related to harassment. The main objective of this initiative is to ensure prompt action at the district level.
