A Satyanarayan puja in Bihar's Pardi village turned chaotic after around 30 people fell ill soon after consuming the prasad. Children and adults began experiencing vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhoea, and dysentery, prompting relatives to rush them to hospitals.
Illness Reported After Consuming Prasad
The incident occurred in a village in Bihar’s Samastipur district. According to Jagran.com citing sources, a Satyanarayan puja was held at the home of a resident, Ram Sakal Yadav, in the village on Thursday night, to which people from adjoining villages had come. As per reports, food was later served to the guests after the puja.
Soon after the food was served, many, including children, felt stomach pains and started vomiting, while others developed diarrhoea and dysentery.
The entire village was enveloped by fear, and the children and adults were rushed to the nearby hospital. Some were treated on the spot, and some were admitted at Bithan CHC.
Around 30 People Fall Ill
Bithan BDO Bablu Kumar said that more than two dozen children and adults were affected after consuming the puja prasad. Around 30 patients were being treated at the Bithan CHC, where doctors were monitoring their condition.
The sudden illness of several people raised concerns among villagers and prompted the health department to take action. Officials are investigating the possible cause of the suspected food poisoning.
Children Also Among Those Affected
Both adults and children were among those who fell ill. Those reported to have been affected include Umesh Yadav, Asha Devi, Geeta Devi, Neelam Devi, Raj Kumar Yadav, Hareram Yadav, Kajal Kumar, Sita Devi, Satton Yadav and Pramila Devi.

Several children were also affected, including Sonu Kumar, Anchal Kumari, Prashant Kumar, Sushant Kumar, Nirala Kumari, Sudhanshu Kumar and Sweety Kumari, among others.
As the number of patients at the community health centre increased, Rosera Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) also reached the hospital and took stock of the situation.
The exact cause of the illness is yet to be established, while health officials continue to monitor the patients undergoing treatment.
