Jagran Correspondent, Arrah | An encounter broke out between a police team and a man, who threatened the local administration, in Bilauti village, Shahpur police station area, Bhojpur district, Bihar on Wednesday morning. On Tuesday, a video emerged on social media in which the accused is seen pointing a pistol at police personnel.

According to police, the accused, Bharat Tiwari, opened fire on cops, prompting them to retaliate. In the firing, Bharat was injured.

Accused Is Son Of Police Constable

After the accused was injured, the police arrested him and recovered a pistol from him. He is the son of Kashi Nath Tiwari, a retired constable (driver). According to reports, a police team arrived in Bilauti village on Wednesday morning to arrest Bharat.

What Triggered Encounter

On seeing the police, the accused opened fire and attempted to flee. The police then resorted to retaliatory firings. The police had cordoned off the entire village. When police action was on, the accused was streaming live on Facebook. The accused ran towards the southern part of the village while firing. He also filmed the scene on Facebook. After a chase of approximately one kilometre, he was shot in retaliatory police firing and fell down injured.

According to sources, Bharat was shot twice in the leg and thigh. The police took him into custody and rushed him to Shahpur Referral Hospital. After providing first aid, doctors referred him to Sadar Hospital, Arrah, for further treatment. The police also recovered the pistol from the scene. Further investigation is underway in the case.

Meanwhile, an accused created headlines after he brandished a pistol and threatened a police team. He was seen lying on the bed and pointing a pistol at the police officers, including the SHO. The video of the incident created outrage.

Accused Is Said To Be Mentally Ill

Bharat's mother was also present at the scene during the incident, attempting to pacify the police officers and calm the situation. Shahpur Station House Officer Rajesh Malakar said the police team had gone to Bilaunti village based on a complaint of illegal weapon brandishing. According to the police, Bharat has been mentally ill for the past two to three years.
