BC Khanduri Death: Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri, former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, passed away at a Dehradun hospital on Tuesday. As per the reports, Khanduri was ill for the past several months and was on a ventilator; however, he passed away today at Max Hospital in Dehradun. He was one of the most prominent politicians of the hilly state and served as the chief minister twice from 2007 to 2009 and from 2011 to 2012. Khanduri was also a member of the Lok Sabha and represented the Garhwal parliamentary constituency.

Khanduri decided to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after retiring from the Army. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), remembered him as a disciplined person who served the nation will full devotion.

"We have received the heartbreaking news of the passing of former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, the esteemed Major General Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri (Retd.) Ji," Dhami said in his post. "While serving in the Indian Army, Shri Khanduri Ji exemplified unparalleled dedication to national service, discipline, and commitment. From his military life to his public life, his persona remained devoted to the nation's interests and public service," he added.

- Khanduri served in the Army before joining the active politics
- He served two terms as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand
- While his first tenure was from 2007 to 2009, the second tenure was between 2011 and 2012
- Khanduri is known for taking several anti-corruption steps during his tenure

Pushkar Dhami stated that Khanduri took several steps for the state's progress. "In his political career, he established a strong identity for Uttarakhand's development, good governance, transparency, and honest work ethic. As a people's leader, he took numerous important decisions for the state's progress and, through his simplicity, forthrightness and efficiency, carved a special place in the hearts of the people," the chief minister stated.
