Bengaluru: A 65-year-old woman was found murdered at her residence in Bengaluru’s Mico Layout area, while a male domestic worker was discovered dead by suicide inside the same house. The incident came to light in the early hours of Saturday and falls under the jurisdiction of the Mico Layout police station.
Incident Detected After Husband Returned Home
Police said the incident is believed to have occurred around midnight. The case surfaced at about 4.30 AM when the woman’s husband returned from Dubai and reached the house. After ringing the doorbell, he was let in by the couple’s 27-year-old daughter, who was staying on the first floor.
The daughter reportedly returned to her room after opening the door. When the husband went to his wife’s bedroom on the ground floor, he found her unresponsive. Police were alerted immediately.

Domestic Help Suspected, Probe Continues
The woman’s body showed signs of strangulation. Police suspect that Devaraju, a 50-year-old domestic help employed at the house, may have killed the woman before dying by suicide.
However, investigators have not ruled out other possibilities. Police are examining whether it was a case of murder followed by suicide or if a third person was involved.
At the time of the incident, only the woman, her daughter and the domestic help were present in the house.
Forensic Team Examines Scene
Mico Layout police conducted a preliminary inspection of the house. A forensic team from the Forensic Science Laboratory also visited the spot and carried out a detailed examination.
Both bodies have been shifted to a government hospital for post-mortem examination. A murder case has been registered and statements from family members are being recorded.
Police Await Post-Mortem Report
Speaking to reporters, Ramesh Banoth said further investigation is underway to establish the exact sequence of events. Police said the post-mortem reports will play a key role in determining the cause and timing of the deaths.
