Bengal Weather: The Alipore Meteorological Department has forecast temperatures to go down with a major relief from scorching heat in the coming days. As per the weather body, Kalbaisakhi storm is expected to hit South Bengal with rains starting during the weekend. At present, several districts are hit by intense heat wave conditions.

South Bengal Weather

Parts of South Bengal will be hit by thunderstorms from Saturday. The weather body has issued a warning for West Midnapore, Murshidabad, Nadia, Birbhum, East Burdwan, West Burdwan, Bankura, Purulia, Jhargram and North 24 Parganas.

Meanwhile, Kalbaisakhi storm is likely to affect Kolkata and other South Bengal districts from Sunday to next Friday. During this time, winds can reach up to 40 to 50 kilometres per hour. The weather body has advised fishermen to not move into the sea in coastal districts till Tuesday.

North Bengal Weather

North Bengal’s Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar are likely to witness more intense thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain. The weather body has also issued an orange alert for these districts from Saturday to next Friday.

Gusty winds will also blow. An orange alert has been issued in these northern districts. There is a possibility of disaster in the north from Saturday to next Friday. Bengal will witness lower temperatures over the next few days with mercury expected to go down during this time by 3-4 degrees Celsius.

Heat Wave Grips North India

Severe heat continues to grip Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Temperatures have already reached more than five degrees above normal in the last week of April. Streets and markets in many areas are deserted during the day, with few people visible on the roads.

Banda district in Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest temperature in India on Saturday. The maximum temperature here reached 47.4 degrees Celsius, 6.2 degrees above normal. This is the highest temperature of the season not only in Uttar Pradesh but in the entire country.
