The second phase of the West Bengal Assembly election recorded the highest voter turnout of over 92 per cent, and among those voters are many who got an opportunity after adjudication on the final voting list published post-special intensive revision (SIR).
One such name is Sk Ibrahim, who is 104-years-old, and has been casting his vote since Independence. According to a report by The Times of India, Ibrahim, who missed the Election Commission's vote-from-home window due to initial discrepancies in the list, was given VIP treatment by the poll body.
During the SIR process, the poll body removed his name from the first list due to a discrepancy in his name in the 2002 and 2025 electoral rolls. His name was placed on the 'doubtful voters' list.
The report stated that in the 2002 list, his name appeared as Sk Ibrahim, while in the 2025 list, his name was Ibrahim Sk. After due process, his correct name finally appeared in the first supplementary list, and he was cleared to vote.
However, the vote-from-home window for people aged above 85 was closed by then, and Ibrahim had to visit the polling station to cast his vote.
Upon his insistence, the East Burdawan administration was moved and subsequently provided him with a vehicle and a wheelchair.
