A SpiceJet staff member, following cancellation of a flight at West Bengal's Bagdogra Airport last week, got involved in a heated argument with the passengers. The woman staff allegedly shouted and hurled abuses at the passengers, and the situation required intervention from the security officials. The airline has suspended the employee after a video related to the incident went viral, receiving negative feedback from the netizens.

In the purported video, the female employee is seen charging towards the passengers and shouting at them. The confrontation took place after a flight to Delhi got cancelled after being postponed multiple times, leading to frustration among the passengers. The security officials can be seen intervening and separating the passengers and the employee as the situation escalated.

 The SpiceJet, in its statement, confirmed the disciplinary action against the female employee, adding that she has been sent for retraining. "Due to this unpredictable cancellation, some of the irate passengers and our staff members got involved in a verbal altercation," the airline said in a statement.

"SpiceJet has taken necessary disciplinary action against the staff member. She has been served with immediate suspension of services and sent to refresher training," it added. While talking about the situation, Noman Shaikh, one of the passengers, stated that the flight to Delhi faced repeated delays throughout the day.

While the passengers were initially informed that the airline was delayed for a few hours, they were later told that the flight got cancelled. "We were informed that the flight would depart at 10 pm. However, later in the evening, we were told that it had been cancelled," Shaikh was quoted as saying by India Today.

Shaikh also alleged that the passengers were not given frequent updates and were served half-cooked rice for lunch. He further stated that no accommodation arrangements were made even after the cancellation.
